Working together to help every child shine
At Congerstone Primary School, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential in helping every child to belong, achieve and thrive.
We are committed to keeping parents and carers informed about their child’s learning, progress and achievements throughout the school year. We value open communication and encourage families to contact their child’s class teacher whenever they have a question, concern or something they would like to share.
Parents’ Evenings
We hold two Parents’ Evenings during the academic year, providing opportunities to celebrate achievements, discuss progress and identify the next steps in your child’s learning.
Autumn Term – Settling In and Making Progress
Our first Parents’ Evening takes place during the autumn term. This is an opportunity to:
- Discuss how your child has settled into their new class.
- Find out about their learning, progress and achievements.
- Share information about your child’s interests, strengths and individual needs.
- Discuss any areas where additional support may be helpful.
Spring Term – Celebrating Progress and Looking Ahead
Our second Parents’ Evening takes place towards the end of the spring term. During this meeting, parents and carers can:
- Look through their child’s books and celebrate their learning.
- Discuss progress across the curriculum.
- Explore their child’s strengths and areas for development.
- Agree how home and school can work together to support the next steps in learning.
Annual Written Reports
At the end of the summer term, every family receives a written report celebrating their child’s achievements and outlining the progress they have made throughout the year.
Reports provide information about learning across the curriculum, alongside personal development and achievements.
Where applicable, parents and carers will also receive the outcomes of statutory assessments, including the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check and Year 6 national curriculum assessments.
Keeping You Informed Throughout the Year
We know that communication should not be limited to formal meetings and reports.
Ongoing Communication
We encourage parents and carers to speak to their child’s class teacher if they have any questions about learning, progress or wellbeing. We believe that working together and addressing concerns early helps us provide the best possible support for every child.
Supporting a Smooth Transition
At the end of each academic year, our teachers hold detailed handover meetings to ensure a smooth transition into the next class.
During these meetings, teachers share important information about each child’s learning, achievements, assessment outcomes, individual needs and successful support strategies.
This helps the receiving teacher build on previous learning, understand each child as an individual and ensure that they feel happy, confident and ready for the next stage of their journey at Congerstone.
Our Commitment
At Congerstone Primary School, our approach to reporting and communication reflects our commitment to Belong, Achieve and Thrive.
We want every family to feel informed, involved and valued as part of our school community, working together to give every child the opportunity to shine.
